As of July 1, new national rules apply to the allocation of capacity on the Dutch electricity grid. For companies planning new sites or looking to expand in areas with grid congestion, securing a grid connection is becoming increasingly difficult. Pressure on the electricity grid continues to mount, while the energy demand from businesses is rising. Adopting a different approach to energy is no longer a choice, but a necessity. How can companies continue to grow when access to the power grid can no longer be guaranteed?

In the recent period with high temperatures it was once again highlighted just how vulnerable our energy system can be during extreme weather conditions. Driven by persistent heat, lower-than-expected wind power generation, and massive electricity demand, the 15-minute price for consumers rose to over €1.20 per kWh during the evening hours of 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. On the wholesale market, prices exceeded €900 per MWh.

On Monday, June 15, we attended the Business Awards 2026 ceremony of the French Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands (CCI France Pays-Bas), where economic cooperation between France and the Netherlands was topic of the day. We are proud to share that Elektro Internationaal and Schneider Electric won the award in the Best Collaboration category!

On May 21, 2026, colleagues Jeroen Dirkzwager and Nick Ruiter attended the Walstroom Festival at GeoFort in Herwijnen. There, various branche related companies showed what’s happening in the field of energy supply for shipping. As a member of the Onshore Power Supply Network (OPSN), Elektro Internationaal was, of course, part of it.

Investing in the skilled professionals of tomorrow—it is something we are happy to do. The current energy transition calls for fresh thinking. To attract students to the Energy and Sustainable Development (EDO) program at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Elektro Internationaal served as the backdrop for the promotional video. It offers future energy professionals a glimpse of the practical reality behind the theory in this challenging and multifaceted field.

During our customer event, "From Grid Congestion to Energy Efficiency: Innovative Solutions for the New Energy Landscape," John Mooij and Jeroen Dirkzwager signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Elektro Internationaal with Schneider Electric, our trusted technology partner.

On April 15 and 16, we had the pleasure of welcoming customers and business partners—together with Schneider Electric—to our client event: ‘From Grid Congestion to Energy Efficiency – Innovative Solutions for a New Energy Landscape.’ We explored the potential of our AC and DC microgrid and the EMS as solutions for grid congestion.
